The changes would impact about 5% of the team, leaving around 95% of staff members unaffected.

Admiral plans to eliminate approximately 500 positions within its UK insurance division as part of a broader efficiency initiative. This restructuring aligns with the efficiency programme announced when the firm released its 2025 full-year results in March. The insurer confirmed that these workforce adjustments are exclusive to UK operations.

The changes would impact about 5% of the team, leaving around 95% of staff members unaffected. Admiral clarified that artificial intelligence (AI) is not the driver behind these cuts. Instead, the transformation aims to establish a more streamlined and effective business model that enhances the client experience.

Transformation Programme

Alistair Hargreaves, who leads Admiral’s UK insurance division, stated: “We are making changes to Admiral’s UK insurance business to ensure we have the right structure, skills and ways of working to meet evolving customer needs. These changes are aimed at making us faster and more efficient so we can continue to deliver great customer outcomes.”

If the proposals are enacted, specific roles may be eliminated. The company noted that assistance is available for any employee whose position might be cut. This support encompasses career transition services, retraining chances, and financial aid for those seeking new employment paths.

Support Measures

Employees looking to start a venture can receive grants of up to £10,000, including mentorship from senior executives. Those seeking professional certifications, accredited courses, or further education can obtain funding of up to £5,000. Additionally, some staff members will be permitted to work part-time for up to 12 months while completing approved retraining.

Admiral has collaborated with the employment support firm LHH to offer career coaching, CV writing help, interview advice, networking opportunities, and job search aid. Hargreaves remarked: “We recognise this will be a difficult time for affected colleagues and our immediate priority is to support those impacted colleagues, including exploring redeployment opportunities wherever possible.”

To complement improved redundancy terms, the insurer is investing significantly in resources to assist staff in planning their next steps. The transformation programme, which targets £100m in cost savings, seeks to build a more agile business. The firm remains dedicated to assisting its workforce through this transition.
